Thomas Jefferson said that America’s “accumulation of debts is a most fearful evil.” As our national debt grows to nearly $40 trillion, we clearly haven’t heeded his warning. So how did we get here and how dangerous is the national debt? And what can we do about it?
We are pleased to invite you to a special LIVE Ashbrook webinar as Executive Director Jeff Sikkenga discusses the history and current state of the national debt with Professor Rob Wyllie. Professor Wyllie is the Director of Ashbrook’s Political Economy Program and an expert on economic issues, especially how politics affects our economic life as a country. They will explore the problem of debt in American history and the significant policy implications for the new administrations that stem from the national debt. It is sure to be a fantastic conversation.
We hope you will please mark your calendars and plan to join us at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13th for this timely discussion via this link.
This program is presented as part of Burton D. Morgan Foundation’s 2025 Speaker Series on Free Enterprise.
