Stephen F. Knott

Stephen Knott is the Thomas & Mabel Guy Professor of American History and Government at Ashland University and Professor of National Security Affairs at the United States Naval War College.  Prior to accepting his position at the Naval War College, Dr. Knott was Co-Chair of the Presidential Oral History Program at the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia. Knott received his B.A. in Political Science from Assumption College and his Ph.D. in Political Science from Boston College. He has taught courses on the presidency, congress, intelligence and national security, and American foreign policy. His books include: Rush to Judgment: George W. Bush, the War on Terror, and His Critics (2012), At Reagan’s Side: Insiders’ Recollections from Sacramento to the White House, with Jeffrey Chidester (2009), The Reagan Years (2005), Alexander Hamilton and the Persistence of Myth (2002), and Secret and Sanctioned: Covert Operations and the American Presidency(1996).
