A Quiz on Women in American History
March 29, 2021
Since before our Founding, American women have been making enormous contributions to the well-being of American society. As far back as the 1830s, Alexis de Tocqueville argued that Americans owed their “singular prosperity and growing strength… to the superiority of their women.” Over time, American women have occupied a more and more prominent place in the public life of our country. With a female Vice President, a female Speaker of the House, 141 other women serving in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, nine female governors, and several dozen women leading Fortune 500 companies, women have come to play a vital role in the leadership of U.S. society.
