Thomas E. Workman is one of ten voting members on the United States Financial Stability Oversight Council, including Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin. Mr. Workman was nominated by President Trump and confirmed by the United States Senate as the Council’s Independent Member with Insurance Expertise.
The Financial Stability Oversight Council, which was created by the Dodd–Frank Act, is charged with identifying and responding to risks to the financial stability of the United States.
Prior to appointment to the Council, Mr. Workman had over four decades of experience in the insurance sector, including as President & CEO of the Life Insurance Council of New York, Inc. and as Legislative Counsel to the Association of Ohio Life Insurance Companies. He served as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps from 1970 to 1973.
Mr. Workman received the Buist M. Anderson Award for Distinguished Service from the Association of Life Insurance Counsel. He also received the Round Table of New York Lifetime Achievement Award. He has served in numerous insurance and legal organizations, including as a chair of the Life Insurance Law Committee of the American Bar Association and as a chair of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel.
Mr. Workman received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and his Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University.
