Where and when

Rich LowryRichard Lowry, 31, graduated in 1990 from the University of Virginia, where he studied English and history. He went on to work as a research assistant for Charles Krauthammer, then as a reporter for a local paper in Northern Virginia.
Richard Lowry joined National Review in 1992, after finishing second in a NR young writers contest.
He became NR’s articles editor before moving to Washington in the summer of 1994 to cover Congress.
He has written for Reader’s Digest, the Wall Street Journal, and a variety of other publications on topics ranging from presidential campaigns to marriage proposals and radio personality Dr. Laura.
He was named editor of National Review in 1997. He lives in New York City.
