James W. Ceaser is the Harry F. Byrd Professor of Politics at the University of Virginia and a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution. He is the author of several books on American politics and political thought, including Presidential Selection, Reconstructing America, Nature and History in American Political Development, and Designing a Polity. He has also coauthored a series on American national elections since 1992. Professor Ceaser has held visiting positions at Oxford University, Princeton University, the University of Basel, and the University of Bordeaux. He is a frequent contributor to the popular press and comments regularly on American Politics for La Voix de l’Amérique, the French West African outlet for The Voice of America.
