The Fourth Annual Robert E. Henderson Constitution Day Lecture featured guest lecturer William B. Allen on Tuesday, September 17, 2002.

 

The title of this year’s lecture is “Founding Habits.” This title was inspired by Dr. Allen’s newest book, Habits of Mind: Approaches to Fostering Access and Excellence in Higher Education, which he co-wrote with Carol Allen. It will be published later this year.

Dr. Allen is a Professor of Political Science and Director of the Program in Public Policy and Administration at Michigan State University. His latest book is The Federalist Papers: A Commentary (Peter Lang Publishing). He served as Director of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia from June 1998 through August 1999, while on leave from Michigan State. Previously, Dr. Allen served as Dean and Professor at James Madison College at Michigan State University.

He has edited several collections, including George Washington: A Collection and The Essential Antifederalist 2d edn. (Rowman and Littlefield, 2002).

He has been a Fulbright Fellow, A Kellogg National Fellow, and has received the international Prix Montesquieu.
