Rediscovering America Weekend
Director’s Club members and friends are invited to visit Philadelphia this fall for the 2nd Annual Rediscovering America Weekend. You will not want to miss this opportunity to learn more about the birthplace of our nation!
Explore the American Founding with Gordon Lloyd
Ashbrook Senior Fellow Gordon Lloyd looks forward to welcoming Director’s Club members to Philadelphia in November. Professor Lloyd is a favorite among teachers in our Master of Arts in American History and Government (MAHG) degree program and a leading scholar of the American Founding. Those attending will go behind-the-scenes in Philadelphia and hear the stories of our Founding Fathers as they told them.
We encourage you to explore Professor Lloyd’s exhibit on the Constitutional Convention, www.TeachingAmericanHistory.org/convention, which includes a map of Philadelphia as it was in 1787. With the continued support of our Director’s Club members, teachers across the country are using these instructional resources to help their students learn the beautiful story of America.
Experience Philadelphia—The Birthplace of American Freedom
In addition to a walking tour with Professor Lloyd, Director’s Club members will enjoy the following, and much more, during Rediscovering America Weekend:
- Share an evening together at the historic City Tavern;
- Explore and discuss Founding documents with our expert faculty;
- Meet and talk with Ashbrook Teachers; and
- Visit Philadelphia’s Historic District, Independence Hall, and other sites.
